The Gods have smiled

It’s a hap-hap-happy day in Yankee Canuck land.
I’ve been waiting for this day for a long ass time. Seriously. A long time.
Despite injuries, being sent down to the AHL and basically being a massive failure in Los Angeles, Marc Crawford has seen fit to make me a happy man by icing Cloutier against the Canucks tonight.
I should be focused on bigger things like the much needed two points, the small but vital winning streak the Canucks are on and how I wish lesbians lived next door to me so I could go borrow some sugar, but I want the Kings to have to pull Dan-o in the first period. Which, against this version of the Canucks, would have to rank as one of the lower moments for him.
I have no reason to hate on the guy as I do…besides, you know, never showing up in the post season at a time when this team actually had the best line in hockey and a 3-1 lead on the Wild in the second round of the playoffs. No, not bitter at all.
We’ve beaten Bertuzzi and now it’s your turn Dan. Consider it the final page in a chapter of unfulfilled promises in B.C. And then we’ll welcome you with open arms and a beer next time around. Promise.
Tonight though? I beg of you to be the Cloutier of old and I beg Edler, Ohlund, Salo, Luongo, the goal judge and every mother and one armed person of spunk to all shoot at him from their respective places on the ice or in the stands.

Good ole Clouts.
Thanks for helping out your old team.
But honestly, he was pretty good against us.. except for all those rebounds canucks can’t capitalize on.
We need to beat Bertuzzi one more time. X(

He was good. I blame myself for wanting him to melt down. Though really what do the Kings have to play for anyway but pride and that was his big shot to shove it in our face so him playing less then crappy isn’t shocking.
Wait until next time. 10-1.

I’m just happy with wins… although the 6-2 and 4-2 wins were nicer…

I sure didn’t see that performance coming from Clouts. But as Rinslet says, it may have been a different game had the Canucks been able to get to some of those rebounds.

Totally random comment that has nothing to do with this post.
I went to the cell phone store, and got to talking to the guy about hockey, he said, he went to his first NHL game a couple of months ago, it was a Vancouver/Jackets game, my response was, oh I’m sorry, did it bore you? His response, it was the greatest thing ever. Just think if he went and saw some exciting teams play!! *Not saying that the Jackets and Canucks and our defensive style of hockey aren’t entertaining for people like you and me but for a new comer to hockey to say that, I mean come on!! That’s exciting right?! Maybe not…but I needed to share.

Sieve – I was also impressed with Vancouver’s offensive pressure. Rarely do you see them in command as much as they were in the first two periods. Too many shots from the perimeter for my liking, but that was impressive too.
Bethany – I had no idea what “boring” Canucks team you speak of. Defensive minded hockey and one goal games make the world turn. Seriously. Ask the Devils!

I hate one goal games…I think we have lost 19 one goal games…or something stupid like that. Stupid defense first. ARGH. I love my boys though…

You know, I was watching the Habs/LA game on Saturday with a big Kings fan and as I was trying to console her I said “You know, the Kings are so much like the Jackets. So many kids, years of picks suddenly coming into their own and yet they each have their own huge weakness.” For the Kings that’s in goal and Crawford…if they solve those two, they’ll be good (also Nagy has to go away). But honestly I am not sure the BJ’s problem…is it depth on offense or defense? Both? Now I’m curious!
March 11th, 2008 5:04 pm
Well, the BJ’s problem started long ago with poor drafting, thanks Doug!
Now, our problem is, we are in desperate need of a top line center. We have no legitimate centers, who can make plays, Manny can win the faceoffs but we need someone who can make the big play. Right now we have Tarnstrom as our puck moving d-man, which was another need, but he’s a UFA at the end of the season. So those are our needs…and we need a good Captain.
PS: Was that supposed to make me feel bad because it kind of made me sad.

No, I didn’t mean that! It also occurred to me that Vyborny is having a bad season.
Tell ya what…we’ll give you morrison and naslund if you give us nash. Seems fair no?
March 11th, 2008 5:31 pm
That’s ok, we just got rid of our old garbage. HAHA, just kidding. I love Morrison and Naslund, but I love Nashty more. Vybs is having awful season…argh…but Z and Nash are having fabulous seasons.
March 11th, 2008 7:28 pm
Well, think about it. Blog about it. Get the media talking about it. And then maybe it’ll happen…and you’ll be sooo happy. For real. Nash needs a whale and city name on his chest!

LOL Bethany. XD I have a thing for defensive games.. honestly it makes me more excited, that’s why I don’t think the current Canucks are that boring.
Though what I hate is when the other team is playing a lame, not even trying to do anything in terms of offense game. Because then.. the Canucks defend against nothing XD and it takes them a while to uhh… XD start firing at all cylinders. So yah.
Otherwise if the other team is just really taking it to the Canucks and they’re just responding with a great defensive efford (led by Lui) then XD it’s just as exciting, I think. XD;;;;;
Mike: did you hear the story about Columbus offering up their #1 pick during Nash draft year to the Canucks in exchange for Jovo???
man, looking back at it…
Trading for that pick and eventually getting Nash = so much awesome now.
March 12th, 2008 5:24 am
did they really?? what year was this?
March 12th, 2008 10:26 am
Before the season Nash was drafted. Burke didn’t want to give up Jovo though. *sigh*
March 12th, 2008 3:24 pm
Well, I’d side with Burke there. Jovo was still a #1 D man and that was a big gamble at the time when this team was “getting ready” for a Cup run.

Yeah, I know what you mean. XD But with hindsight, it would have been a good deal XD.
I want to cry tonight. :’( *cling*
