That was just way too much fun to watch. The joy likely won’t last long, but for now it feels great. I want to remember this one when the team is in the middle of an eight-game losing streak in the darkness and cold of January.

Kent – Did you like the Flames in the first? I thought they were far better (though that 5-on-3 may have helped me perspective). I’m just amazed the defense abandoned Kipper like that. I saw some of the Flames sites are taking Giordano and Bourque to task but they jumped off the screen to me, mistakes aside, in terms of skill and speed.

Not a chance in hell we’ll see the same team tomorrow night but it was a treat to have for an evening. You’ll have to forgive Vancouver fans for the gloating…when everyone thinks you suck it’s nice to have an evening like that.

The Flames, on the other hand…

IM glad you guys noticed Giordano. I thought he looked excellent too, although I’m fan so maybe I was watching through “fan eyes”.

Rod – That first period was no different than most of last year. If they can pull together some consistency like they displayed in the last forty minutes they’ll be fine. Hell, just average three goals and Luongo can take care of the rest.

I’ll do my best to not get thrown out of the Verizon Center screaming something about Ovechkin’s mom. Note I said I’ll do my best, no promises.

Only one game in and Kesler can’t resist getting his face wrecked. First a stick and then a skate. Ah well, he, and the rest of the team played great – except, as you mentioned, when they were busy taking stupid penalties. They really need to learn that when you take a penalty, it’s generally a bad idea to take another one within 30 seconds, Luongo notwithstanding.

But yeah, Saturday night should be interesting.

Enjoy the game against the Caps, too.
