Things I Didn’t Expect This Far

Oct 26th, 2008 | By Mike | Category: Rants, Statistics, awwwww shit

- That Kesler would be leading the team in points (9).
- That Burrows would have as many points (7) as the team’s lone 2007-08 All-Star Henrik Sedin.
- That Mitchell would have more points (4) than Demitra (3).
- That Rypien (2) would have more points than Pyatt (1).
- That Raymond & Burrows would be tied with Daniel Sedin for the team lead in SOG (21).
- That Hansen would have more goals (3) than Bernier (2).
- That Vancouver is 7th in the league in goals per game (3.50).
- That Demitra has more TOI than Burrows (16:51 to 15:50).
- That Vancouver is 26th in the league in goals against per game (3.50).
- That Wellwood is 71.4% in winning faceoffs.
- That Vancouver is last in the NW Division.
- That Wellwood and Krog are relevant to the team’s success for a few weeks now.
- That Pyatt has more shifts per game than Bernier (19.5 to 19.3).
- That Vancouver would be 25th in the league in PIM’s per game (20.1 minutes).
- That it took 4 PP goals to take the Canucks from 29th to 14th in the league on the man advantage.
- That Vancouver would be 28th in the league in shots per game (25.8).
- That, as the Lowetide guy said, the Canucks would retire their fanbase (sweet, free time).
- That I would laugh so hard after Shorty remarked, following Wellwood’s goal, “Boy that guy really slows the game down.”
- That only Philadelphia has more major penalties (12) than Vancouver (11).
- That Salo got injured so quickly (just kidding, wanted to make sure you were paying attention).
- That if the playoffs started today, Vancouver, Dallas and Anaheim would all be golfing.
- That we’d still be talking about Mats Sundin as if there’s a snowballs chance in hell he’ll end up in Vancouver.
- That only Ellis and Kiprusoff have worst goals against so far than Luongo (22).
- That I haven’t seen Ouellet or Grabner yet.
- That Labarbera has a better save % (.891) than Luongo (.889).
- That I could see this picture and think of this and feel there’s a secret marketing angle behind all of this.

  1. I have to give you the gears about Wellwood. He’s pretty good huh? Demitra who?
Tell me how good Wellwood is! Haha!

  2. I would have more of an opinion on him had Center Ice bothered to show the game last night. Listening on the radio doesn’t give me much faith in observing him. But at this point I’d welcome anyone who isn’t playing like Pyatt…even if it’s Fudgie the Canuck Whale. ;)

  3. Very good – particularly about Wellwood slowing the game down.
    Like your new format.

  4. Man. Willie is determined to be an offensive defenceman this year or something. I mean, how many times have I seen him so in-deep the offensive zone? XD! It’s uhm good and all, but “Hello, Willie… aren’t you a stay-at-home defenceman?”

It’s cute tho. :P haha. Cute when I’m not nervously wondering what will happen if the play goes the other way and Bieksa is the “stay-at-home” defenceman. Whoops. haha

  5. Ron – Thanks, I linked to your site over on my blogs page. Hope that helps send some traffic/psychos/death threats your way.

Rinslet – It’s comical when on the offchance the Canucks have sustained offensive pressure and you see some winger pass it cross ice to a pinching defenseman…9 times out of 10 it’s Mitchell and I just groan. It’s never Edler or Bieksa…always Mitchell. Though it does beat Miller.

Talk back and make it dirty
